JBHS Class of 2009 Booster Club Bylaws

  

Article I – Name

The name of the organization shall be “Class of 2009 Booster Club,” herein referred to as the “Booster Club.”

  

Article II – Purpose

The purpose of the Booster Club shall be to work cooperatively with the faculty, advisors and James Bowie High School (JBHS) administration to provide financial support for the JBHS Class of 2009 and the drug and alcohol-free graduation lock-in to be held in May of 2009.  This Booster Club will operate within the guidelines of policies governing JBHS booster clubs.

 

 Article III – Membership

 

Section 1:

Membership in this Booster Club is open to anyone wishing to join in support of the JBHS Class of 2009.  All parents of the students of the Class of 2009 are strongly encouraged to join the Booster Club.

 

Section 2:

Membership dues are $100.00 per student payable in full by May, or in $30 annual increments.  ($30 x 4 annual installments = $120).

 

Section 3:

All members paying dues in full or at least $30 per year shall be voting members.

 

Section 4:

The membership year shall coincide with the school year.

 

Article IV – Officers and Elections

 

Section 1:

The Executive Board of the Booster Club shall consist of a President and Co-President, 1st Vice-President, 2nd Vice-Presidentvice-president(s), 3rd Vice-President, 4th Vice-President, Secretary and Co-Secretary, and andTreasurer and Co-Treasurer, all of whom will be voting members of the Executive Board.  A position of Parliamentarian will also be elected to serve as a non-voting officer on the Executive Board.

 

Section 2:

The officers shall be elected by a majority vote of the membership present at the annual meeting in May of each year.

 

Section 3:

Officers’ terms shall be for one year.  No elected officer shall serve more than two consecutive terms in the same office.  Officers shall assume their official duties at the close of the last membership meeting of the school year and shall serve for a term continuing until the last regular meeting of the membership of the following year.Terms for newly elected officers shall begin following the first meeting (election) of each school year and continue through the first meeting of the following year when the new executive board will be nominated and elected  In the event that any of the officer positions becomes vacant, the Executive Board may appoint a replacement or a general election will be held at the next meeting to fill the position.

 

Section 4:

Officers and the principal of JBHS or his/her representative constitute the Executive Board.

 

 Article V – Duties of Officers

All members of the Booster Club shall support the Booster Club initiatives and promote membership in the club to all parents of JBHS Class of 2009 students and other interested supporters.

 

Section 1:

The Executive Board shall have supervision over the affairs of the club between meetings and shall see that the objectives of the club are accomplished.  The Executive Board shall create standing and special committees as it deems necessary to accomplish the goals of the Booster Club and to carry out the work of the club.

 

Section 2:

The President(s) shall preside at all club and Executive Board meetings, appoint standing committee heads and special committee heads.  The President shall oversee all committees (i.e. fundraising and membership drive) and other Executive Board members. 

Section 3:

The Vice-President(s) shall preside at all club and Executive Board meetings in the absence of the President.  The Vice-President(s) shall maintain an accurate membership database.  The Vice-President(s) shall assist with the overseeing of standing and special committees (i.e. fundraising and membership drive).

 

Section 4:

The Secretaries shall record all proceedings of the General Membership and Executive Board meetings and may handle booster club correspondence.

Section 5:

The Treasurers shall collect all membership dues and care for the Booster Club’s funds, keep an accurate record of receipts and payments, submit a report at club and Executive Board meetings, and submit an annual report at the close of each year and end of his/her term of office.  The Treasurer shall serve as the Booster Club liaison with the JBHS accountant/bookkeeper to ensure Booster Club adherence to all policies and procedures governing Booster Club fundraisers and procurements.

 

Section 6:

The Parliamentarian, a non-voting officer of the Executive Board, shall maintain order at the meeting of the General Membership according to Robert’s Rules of Order, or other accepted text.

 

Section 7:

All officers shall deliver to their successor all official materials not later than thirty (30) days following the date on which new officers assume their duties.

 

 

Article VI – Meetings

 

Section 1:

Executive Board meetings will be held monthly as determined by the board.  Additional meetings will be held as needed. General membership meetings will be held quarterly as called by the Executive Board.

 

Section 2:

Meeting dates, times, and locations will be announced via the jbhs_2009_booster Yahoo! Group, the jbhs_newsgroup Yahoo! Group, and in the Bowie Bulletin Newsletter.

 

Section 3:

Meetings of the Executive Board may be called by the President or by a majority of the officers on an as-needed basis.  The meetings of the Executive Board shall be open to the General Membership.

 

Article VII – Fundraising and General Funds

 

Section 1:

Booster Club membership dues shall be an ongoing method of raising funds.  Parents of Class of 2009 students are strongly encouraged to participate in the Booster Club and its fundraising events.

 

Section 2:

Additional fundraising projects may be used to bring monies into the Booster Club fund.  The Executive Board will be responsible for reviewing and approving all fundraising projects.

 

Section 3:

All Booster Club funds from membership dues and fundraising initiatives shall be disbursed at the discretion of the Executive Board within AISD guidelines.

 

Article VIII – Communication

The Booster club agrees to use email addresses acquired from James Bowie High School for the sole purpose of Booster Club communication.
